In general the following are available to 2nd and 3rd year DPT students.
Mercer & Bowers Fund
The purpose of this fund to provide scholarships for African-American students enrolled in the Department of Physical Therapy at UMES.
UMES Physical Therapy Scholarship Endowment
The purpose of this endowment is to provide need and merit-based scholarships for students enrolled in the entry level Department of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
The Louisa Jane Royster Endowment Fund
The purpose of this fund is to provide benefit and support to the Physical Therapy Program and its faculty.
Doctoral Assistantship
Dependent upon funding by Title III , a doctoral assistantship program is available to applicants admitted to UMES’ doctoral degree programs. It provides an opportunity for individuals of demonstrated ability and promise, particularly underrepresented groups in scientific disciplines such as African Americans and other minorities, to pursue advanced study leading to the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. The Assistantship includes a stipend for a twelve-month full-time appointment and full tuition remission.
Student/Tutor Aide Positions
Dependent upon funding by Title III, student tutor/aide positions are available to 2nd year DPT students. The student is paid an hourly rate at a maximum of 20 hours a week to assist with laboratory instruction and other duties in the basic science courses of the 1st year of the curriculum.
