Congratulations to two NOAA LMRCSC alumni Teemer Barry (New Jersey Sea Grant), and Jamon Jordan (Oregon Sea Grant) on their selection as 2026 Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship Finalists!
Barry is a NOAA LMRCSC I alum, who graduated from University of Maryland Eastern Shore in May 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. He went on to earn his Master’s in the Rutgers University Department for Marine and Coastal Sciences, where he characterized linkages between underlying Mid-Atlantic Bight conditions and phytoplankton dynamics surrounding offshore wind development areas.
Jordan is a NOAA LMRCSC II alum, who graduated from Oregon State University in 2025 with a Master’s degree in Marine Sciences. His research focused on swordfish habitat compression using seascapes for the proposed Chumash National Marine Sanctuary.
The Sea Grant Knauss Fellowship has been awarded to nine LMRCSC fellows since 2019. The fellowship places early-career professionals in legislative and executive branch offices in the Washington, D.C., area, where they contribute scientific and technical expertise to the federal policymaking process for critical marine, coastal and Great Lakes issues.
As part of their fellowship, the 2026 finalists will participate in professional development opportunities, build their networks and have mentorship opportunities. This spring, the finalists will participate in the placement process, during which they will connect with one another and potential host offices. Sea Grant’s 47th class of Knauss fellows will officially begin their fellowships in June 2026.
