Teemer Barry graduated in May 2022 with a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where he studied Environmental Science with a focus on the marine sciences. During the summer of 2018, Teemer participated in the Geoscience Bridge program where he studied coastal activities and geographical information systems practices. During the summer of 2019, Teemer participated in the Savannah State University Bridge to Science REU program where he participated in research on lionfish under the supervision of Dr. Tara Cox.

Teemer went on to study for his Ph.D. in the Rutgers Department for Marine and Coastal Sciences, where he characterized linkages between underlying Mid-Atlantic Bight conditions and phytoplankton dynamics surrounding offshore wind development areas. He was selected as a NOAA Sea Grant Knauss Fellow in 2026.
