Geriatric Assessment Interprofessional Toolbox (GAIT) Workshop
DPT first-year students participated in the Annual Geriatric Assessment Interprofessional Toolbox (GAIT) Workshop held at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury, MD. Attendees also included UMES students from Pharmacy, Dietetics, and Physician Assistant programs as well as Salisbury University students in the Nursing and Social Work departments.
Students attended select workshops related to collaborative assessment tools for older adults, including a gait and balance instructional session held by Dr. Dennis Klima, PT, PhD and Neurologic Resident, Dr. Elizabeth Cheung, DPT.
Interprofessional team sessions focused on managing care for an older adult in the home health setting who was socially isolated.
