Lily Olmo graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she conducted research at the UNC Institute of Marine Sciences and participated in the NOAA Hollings Scholarship Program under Dr. Jeffrey Seminoff at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center in La Jolla, CA. Then, she obtained an M.S. in Fisheries Biology from Cal Poly Humboldt in the Marine Fisheries Ecology Lab under Dr. Jose Marin Jarrin, where her research focused on fish communities in tidal artificial wetlands in Humboldt Bay, CA.
Lily joined the LMRCSC in Fall 2025 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences at Oregon State University with Dr. Jessica Miller. Lily’s prior and current research focuses on fisheries community ecology in estuarine habitats, and she hopes to continue contributing to NOAA’s mission for Healthy Habitats throughout her career.
