Nylah McClain graduated with her bachelor’s in Marine and Environmental Science from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.  She participated in the 2017 REU program at UMES, working with mentor Dr. Ali Ishaque and graduate student Chelsea Richardson. Her research involved analyzing the gut content, stable isotopes, and fatty acids of the summer flounder, Paralichthys dentatus. This information will be used to create a dynamic food web of the Maryland Coastal Bays. Nylah is currently pursuing her graduate degree at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where she is enrolled into the Marine, Estuarine, and Environmental Science program. Concerning her career path, Nylah aspires to work as an environmental scientist for NOAA or the Peace Corp.
