NOAA EPP/MSI LMRCSC fellows came from seven partner institutions across the U.S. to meet in Baltimore at the 2023 Annual Assembly. New and veteran fellows convened at the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology to network, workshop, and gain insight into their marine science career prospects.

Day One began with orientation and included field trips to view aquaculture and urban estuary restoration projects. Before dinner, returning fellows presented research posters, traded notes, and received feedback. During the next two days, new fellows were introduced to logistical components of the fellowship, including mentoring and time management, and marine science concepts like stock assessment and fisheries habitats. Returning fellows honed their writing skills, and had one-on-one meeting opportunities with LMRCSC faculty.

“Our Annual Assembly embodies the collective spirit of our center, where ideas flourish, collaborations thrive, and excellence is celebrated,” said Center Director Dr. Paulinus Chigbu. “Each year, it’s a testament to these students’ dedication to marine sciences and our faculty’s dedication to the students. I hope all the fellows will continue to foster the connections they’ve made this week.”
