NOAA-EPP LMRCSC Undergraduate Fellow
B.S., Marine & Environmental Science
Hampton University
Taj Nash is an undergraduate studying marine and environmental science at Hampton University. Her research focuses on the impacts of restored oyster reefs on the estuarine ecosystem in the Hampton River, such as recruitment rate and sediment accretion. The buildup of sediment trapped behind oyster reefs can help to rebuild shorelines and enhance coastal resilience, aligning with NOAA’s mission of conserving and managing marine ecosystems. Overall, her project will contribute to the growing knowledge of mitigation of environmental stressors.
