A native of Chesapeake, VA, Erianna Hammond is an undergraduate graduate of Savannah State University. Under the advisement of Dr. Dione Hoskins-Brown and other mentors, Erianna’s research plans included focusing on Marine Mammals from a medical and conservation perspective.
In addition to her time spent focusing on her studies, Ms. Hammond was actively involved outside of the classroom. Erianna participated in Dolphin Photo ID and Data Entry. Under the supervision of Ms. Robin Perrtree, this program, which is managed at Savannah State University, allowed for Erianna to conduct research on bottlenose dolphins near the inshore waters of Savannah, GA. Also, during the summer 2019, Erianna participated in an internship where she aided in the rehabilitation of marine mammals located off the California Coast. In addition to this experience, during the summer of 2021 Erianna also studied the feeding behaviors of the humpback whale in Cape Cod, MA in comparison to the location of their prey (Sand Lances).
Erianna now works with NOAA Fisheries, Office of Sustainable Fisheries, Highly Migratory Species Division. She holds the title of Fishery Management Specialist.
