Splinting Workshop

Students attend serial casting/tone management Workshop at the university of maryland rehabilitation and orthopedic institute (UMROI)

On Saturday, January 9 the 3rd year DPT students attended a serial casting and tone management workshop at the UMROI facility in Baltimore, MD.  

The workshop was instructed by Angie Davis, PT, MHS, NCS, Senior Physical Therapist on the Neurologic Outpatient Unit. Students performed hypertonicity examination and intervention techniques and worked with patients with a variety of neurologic diagnoses.  The session culminated in a laboratory where students fabricated short-leg serial casts.

Faculty instructor, Dennis Klima, noted that the “students gained valuable experience in evidence-based tone management strategies that will enhance their overall patient management toolbox.”
