PT Students Volunteer at the Sea Gull Century

On September 27, UMES 1st year Doctor of Physical Therapy students volunteered at the 26th annual Sea Gull Century, the 100 mile bicycle ride sponsored by Salisbury University. The students distributed food and water to the riders at the Assateague rest stop. This activity helped to promote social responsibility and altruism, key core values in physical therapy, among UMES PT students throughout the Delmarva Peninsula.

“It was such a beautiful day and the riders were so appreciative of the food and water.  They particularly enjoyed the pickle juice!”

~ Brittany, 1st year student

“Everyone had a smile on their face!  It was fun motivating the riders and cheering them on!”

~ Larry, 1st year student

“The Assateague ponies helped themselves to snacks, as well.”

~Dina, 1st year student
