Angel Colon-Zapata is pursuing a B.S. degree in Natural Resources with a concentration in Wildlife and Fisheries Management, complemented by a minor in Environmental Science at Delaware State University. In the summer of 2024, he participated in the USDA NIFA Student Experiential Learning Program at Auburn University, where he researched the adaptations of Orconectes immunis to low pH levels in freshwater ecosystems under the mentorship of Dr. Gulnihal Ozbay and Grant Blank.
In the fall of 2024, Angel became an undergraduate fellow, continuing his research on Orconectes immunis at DSU. His future aspirations include studying internationally to focus on wildlife conservation and biology, and advocating for the preservation of endangered and threatened species.
