Job Summary
Summer Student General Assistants (SA) are individuals who possess
enthusiasm, responsibility and the willingness to serve others. Summer Student
General Assistants provide courteous and helpful customer service to guests and
the general campus community. Summer Student Assistant staff provides support
to the Office of Residence Life operations during the summer months and will also
collaborate on streamlining the summer-long process to prepare student living
spaces for August move-in.

This is a seasonal position offering 20 hours/week during the summer from the last
week of May through the end of August. Weekend availability is required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Minor cleaning of the grounds and apartments
  • Replacing air filters
  • Replacing smoke detector and thermostat batteries
  • Replacing light bulbs
  • Distributing items to bedrooms/apartments
  • Preparing apartment/bedroom units for August opening
  • Completing work orders/maintenance requests
  • Assist with summer conferencing (e.g., answer phone calls, submit work orders
    for custodial and maintenance issues, assist with lockouts, sign out/in equipment,
    provide information regarding campus resources, direct questions to appropriate
    staff members, etc.)
  • Moving and installing furniture in bedrooms/apartment units
  • Other tasks as assigned
