Information for Transfer Students
A student who has attended any accredited institution of higher education will be considered a transfer student. Applicants must apply, have at least a 2.0 GPA and 27 credits or more to be considered a transfer student, and submit the non-refundable, designated fees (application fee and enrollment deposit). For students who have completed 27 or fewer credits are required to also submit an official high school transcript, which must be sent directly from the school to complete the application process.
Our office of the Registrar has begun an initiative to better help with your transition to UMES. For students who have not applied, and/or not have committed to UMES (selected enroll and paid the enrollment deposit), can request a preliminary credit evaluation. If you want a credit evaluation prior to selecting enroll and paying your enrollment deposit, this will help you determine what credits will transfer to UMES prior to committing to the university.
- If you have have not applied and/or you’ve completed your application, but you are still wondering about what credits are transferable, please complete the online preliminary credit evaluation as soon as possible (transcripts are required, even if it’s unofficial).
- After completion, to follow up about your preliminary credit evaluation, please contact the Office of the Registrar at (410) 651-6414 or via email at [ transcripts@umes.edu ]. Keep a screenshot of your screen for follow-up purposes. Official credit evaluations are only completed once you have completed the application requirements and have been matriculated in our system. Final transcripts are vital for appropriate advising and class registration.
