UMES is designated by the Carnegie Classification System as a Research University of Higher Education.

The purpose of the OSRP is to provide faculty, research associates and students with assistance in the preparation and submission of proposals and in the administration of grants and contracts in pursuit of increasing and enhancing our growing research profile.

This action provides a single focal point for the University community and external agencies and organizations for all activities related to the acquisition and administration of sponsored activities.
