Graduate Assistant Job Description
The graduate student assistant will work with the Student Success Coordinator and Activity Director for Paving the
Way for Non-Traditional Students and adult learners at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). This is
an hourly position, not a graduate assistantship position. This individual will assist in promoting and communicating
with our non-traditional student population in both in-person and virtual assistance and providing the wrap around
services we provide here at UMES.


Primary Responsibilities
 Communication with non-traditional students, adult learners, transfer students, community and
local businesses, local community colleges, and school
administration
 Keeping track of project activities
 Contact/communication with campus constituencies
 Data entry
 Create flyers and brochures for the promotion of program
 Online search of information and literature review
 May include some travel
 Provide
 Additional work as per supervisor’s instruction

Qualifications
Graduate student
Experience in working with Microsoft Office (Excel, word, power point, publisher) and report writing will be
additional advantages
Willing to work with adult students, and community people and some weekends


Hourly Rate: $13.50 per hour, 20 hours per week
