The Department of Mathematics invites qualified undergraduate students to apply for the Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UTA) position here at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The successful candidate will serve as a UTA for Math 112 (Calculus I) and/or Math 211 (Calculus II), providing additional support to the instructor and the students.
Responsibilities will include:
· Working with the instructor to provide meeting times/locations for the students to obtain assistance from the teaching assistant.
· Working with the students to find the best times to provide assistance and additional support outside of the classroom hours.
· Where possible, the teaching assistant will hold a study session each week.
· Grade homework assignments given during the semester and provide the grades to the instructor.
The Teaching Assistant will be provided with the template for the next quiz/test for that week, along with copies of the homework assignment. A solution set for each homework assignment will be provided by the Instructor before the grading of that assignment each week.
Minimum Qualification(s): Minimum of a 3.0 GPA
Compensation: $15/hr. – up to 20 hours per week
