Sheep Gives Birth on UMES Farm – May 7, 2021

UMES Extension’s Small Ruminant Program, under the direction of Dr. Enrique Nelson Escobar, provides support to farmers, K-12 and college students, and other agriculturists. On the UMES Farm, ewes and does are bred once per year and average 2.5 kids or lambs per kidding. Due to the pandemic and to the lack of students because of it, there are currently 7 ewes and 10 does roaming on approximately 60 acres of land.
