
Join University of Maryland Eastern Shore Extension for a hands-on, half-day workshop on managing honey bee colonies through the summer.
The Summer Hive Inspections: Strategies & Tips for the Dog Days of Summer workshop will be held Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Apiary at the UMES Research, Extension and Teaching Farm in Princess Anne.
Participants will learn about reading hives with a light touch, handling defensive bees and robbing, and setting up your hive to survive the winter.
We’ll suit up for hive inspections and mite checks and cover strategies for preparing your hives for the fall.
The workshop is aimed at beginning and intermediate beekeepers.
The cost is $20 per person and pre-registration is required as space is limited to 15 participants. Lunch will be provided.
