The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). That means that when you attend the MSCHE-accredited University of Maryland Eastern Shore, you’ll graduate with a degree that shows graduate programs and potential employers that you’re serious about your education and are dedicated to becoming an expert in your field. In addition to being accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, many of our degree programs hold specialized accreditation.

Accreditation-Provisional status is granted when the plans and resource allocation of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate that the program will meet ARC-PA Standards when it is fully implemented as planned. This status may also be granted if a program appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with ARC-PA Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students. Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
