The University of Maryland Eastern Shore will host a Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training for FSMA Compliance on December 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will be held in the Richard A. Henson Center ballroom.  Registration is $25 per person.

Farmers who need to comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule or who are exempt from the rule but need to comply due to buyer requirements should attend.  Also those who want to remain up-to-date with the FSMA regulations and with how to comply or those who need to attend a food safety training to maintain a food safety certification should attend.

According to Nicole Cook, event organizer and an environmental and agricultural faculty legal specialist, attendees will acquire an in-depth understanding of the requirements of the FSMA Produce Safety Rule, gain guidance regarding food safety risks and how to mitigate them, learn about the MD Department of Agriculture’s role in implementing the rule, and complete certificates required to comply with the rule.
