Approximately 60 visitors braved extreme temperatures to attend the UMES Education and Demonstration Farm field day on Friday, July 19. While on the grounds, they went from station to station gleaning information about the herb garden, the honeybee hives, crops growing in the hoop houses, and more.
Extension faculty and staff were on hand for questions, to give information about the various projects, and to extend Hawk hospitality. Following informative exchanges, no one left empty-handed, carrying a gift of fresh produce away with them.
The Small Farm Program at UMES works to provide informative sessions that answer the needs of the lower Eastern Shore in various formats. Stay tuned for more exciting events. In addition, to schedule an individual time to visit the farm, contact Dr. Nadine Burton at nmburton@umes.edu.
