Admission Criteria

ADMISSION CRITERIA

The Organizational Leadership Doctoral program admits students into its program once per year, for the Fall cohort. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.  However, to be considered for the upcoming fall cohort, all application materials must be submitted by March 1st.

Questions about the application process should be directed to the School of Graduate Studies, by calling 410-651-6507.

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION
Degree Seeking

Those who have earned or will earn a master’s degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States or the U.S. minimum credit hours equivalent of either degree from another country will be considered for admission to the Graduate School. The Graduate School requires as a minimum admission standard a “B” cumulative grade point average, or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, in a program of study resulting in a baccalaureate degree generally of a four year (eight semester, 120 minimum credit hours) duration and master’s degree generally of a two-year (four semester, 30 minimum credit hours) duration.

Non-U.S. Citizens who are permanent residents and non-immigrants (under visas) use the same application process for seeking admission.

The decision to admit an applicant to the ORLD program is based primarily on a combination of the following criteria, as well as the applicant’s background experience and capabilities:

  1. The quality of previous undergraduate and graduate work. The student’s graduate program should include completion of the prerequisites for graduate study in the chosen field. Applicants who do not meet the minimum standard for their graduate work may be provisionally admitted if there is evidence, on the basis of other criteria, of a reasonable likelihood of success in the program the applicant desires to enter. Further information on these prerequisites is below.
  2. Strength of external evaluations of the applicant.
  3. A Statement of Purpose for graduate study.
  4. Admission Interview.

If admitted on a Provisional status, due to failure to meet Statistics prerequisite:

  • You must successfully complete prerequisite by the end of your first year in the program (i.e. earning a “B” or “A” in the course).
  • You must take this prerequisite course before attempting ORLD 612 in Spring of Year I.
  • Recommended course – ORLD 599. However, other appropriate courses may be substituted for this course. Please contact the ORLD Coordinator as soon as you find an alternative course to receive approval.
