Kinesiology Club Fall Open House 2021

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the programs offered in Kinesiology are as follows:

  1. To provide students with academic curricula to develop a strong background in Kinesiology track areas.

  2. To provide courses and learning experiences to students to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities for core program competencies, including health program administration, outcome assessments, health appraisals, and clinical exercise testing.

  3. To prepare students to integrate knowledge of the cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, and musculoskeletal systems with current practices and research.

  4. To provide opportunities for students to acquire and to effectively utilize technology as professionals in the health and kinesiology professions.

  5. To prepare students for employment and leadership positions in health/fitness, kinesiology, allied health and the sport industry.

  6. To prepare students for graduate study and continued professional development.

  7. To promote interaction between the university and the community through departmental activities.

DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS
The admission of students in the undergraduate program in the Department of Kinesiology is based upon the general requirements of the University. Exercise Science majors must complete a minimum of 120 credits hours of University courses. Each track possesses its own criteria for the Exercise Science degree.

Clinical Track – Majors must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours of University classes. Included in the 120 hours are 42 credit hours of Gen Ed requirements; 47 credit hours of major core courses and 31 credit hours of support courses.

Health Fitness Track – Majors must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours of University classes. Included in the 120 hours are 42 credit hours of Gen Ed requirements; 51 credit hours of major core courses, and 27 credit hours of support courses.
