Greenwood Elementary Fun Fitness Challenge
PRINCESS ANNE, MARYLAND
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore “Exercise Science Club” spent time with fifth graders at Greenwood Elementary to teach them about maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Students skipped rope, crab walked, dribbled basketballs and tossed around footballs. Besides showing off their athletic abilities in the gym, the students also learned the importance of eating healthy.
“We really want to get into Somerset County where health disparities are quite high,” club president Jeffery Locklear said. “We really want to get them moving so we can make a change in a child so that later on when they become adults, it can become a lifestyle.”
