Biography

Coach Beatrice Nelson has extensive teaching, advising, and program administration experience at both the secondary and collegiate levels. Her instructional background includes courses in personal and community health, personal fitness assessment, and freshman experience. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Coach Nelson is the primary advisor to the Kinesiology Club. Coach Nelson believes in giving back to the community. She leads community service events such as the Hawk Walk, a 2.5 mile walk around the Town of Princess Anne to promote health and fitness, and the Adopt-A-Block initiative with the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church.

Coach Nelson served as Project Administrator for the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP), a federally supported initiative designed to provide disadvantaged youth ages 10–16 with academic enrichment and sports skill development opportunities. The initiative served 250 – 400 youth each year from Maryland’s Tri-County area, including Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset counties. She received a Proclamation from the Town of Princess Anne Commissioners in 1999 and the Silvio O. Conte Award of Excellence in 2004 for her work as project administrator.
