Job Summary: One undergraduate student assistant will support information extraction, synthesizing information, exploring and reproducing relevant code and tools. Student will assist with preliminary studies, collecting data, and providing general support during instructional and research activities. Students will also have opportunities to participate in entry-level research tasks under faculty guidance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature reviews and summarize research findings related to privacy, security, and emerging technologies.
- Assist with the collection, organization, and analysis of research materials, datasets, and technical information relevant to ongoing research activities.
- Support research efforts by identifying, documenting, and evaluating potential privacy, security, and ethical considerations in technology-based systems.
- Participate in regular research meetings, maintain research documentation, and contribute to project discussions and planning activities.
- Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, posters, and other scholarly dissemination materials.
Core Requirements:
- Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, Jupyter Notebook, GitHub, and command-line tools)
- Intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn new tools, concepts, and techniques quickly
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently when needed, and contribute effectively to research activities
- Good teamwork, communication, and professional conduct skills
Preferred to Have:
- Basic understanding of research literature and familiarity with using academic databases and other resources to find relevant research articles.
- Familiarity with Python programming and experience working with datasets or analytical tools.
- Demonstrated curiosity and interest in emerging technologies, privacy, security, and responsible innovation.
Hours: This position is 20 hours a week for up to 8 weeks during Summer 2026 and will conclude no later than 8/21/2026.
Pay: $17.00/hour
