BMEN 390 Bio-reaction Engineering

The course introduces engineering aspects of biological reactions as applied to biomedical systems. Topics to be covered includes enzyme kinetics, enzyme inhibition, biochemical pathway engineering, mass and energy balance, cell growth and differentiation, cell engineering, bioreactor design, and analysis of the human body, organs, tissues, and cells as bioreactors. The application of bioreaction/bioreactor principles to tissue engineering is also covered.
