WHO ARE WE?
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore was originally founded in 1886 as a historically black college with 16 acres, 9 students, and 2 educators. But we have grown far beyond out humble beginnings. Now, we are one of the top 20 HBCUS, a doctoral research institution, and a top performer in social mobility. At UMES, we are trendsetters and record breakers.
