UMES land-grant scholar ready to join agriculture workforce

Cameron Hill will be crossing the stage Dec. 13 with about 200 fellow graduates as the University of Maryland Eastern Shore celebrates its 2024 Winter Commencement. Hill took advantage of the UMES Land-grant Scholarship to make earning a bachelor’s degree in general agriculture a reality. Read more

Persistence pays off for graduating senior Ludan Osman

Overcoming early struggles, biology major Ludan Osman will graduate with 201 other students on Friday, Dec. 13, as part of 2024 winter commencement exercises. Her next journey, following a gap year to gain experience as a dental assistant, will be to attend dental school. Read more

UMES research explores trees as bioenergy source

Research is in progress at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore to see if several varieties of trees and other plants, such as switchgrass, can be grown, harvested economically and used as sustainable bioenergy feedstocks. 

Maryland Ag Secretary Atticks visits UMES Extension farm

Maryland Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks visited the UMES Extension Research, Extension and Teaching Farm in Princess Anne for a first-hand look at how work at the farm supports research efforts by students at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
