The annual installment of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Ag Showcase will take place Aug. 7 at its Research, Extension and Teaching Farm. Held in partnership with Atlantic Tractor LLC and Simplot Grower Solutions, the free event features corn field trials, interactive demonstrations on the latest in smart-farm technology and equipment, and UMES agricultural research and extension activities among other topics.

Simplot Grower Solutions is also sponsoring two agricultural training courses approved by the Maryland Department of Agriculture’s Office of Plant Industries and Pest Management Pesticide Regulation section. Each of the one-hour classes is two credits toward re-certification. The credits are for applicators certified in categories 1A, 10, CORE and PVT.

“Understanding Base Saturations, Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) and Liming Recommendations” is being offered through Agro Liquid, while the Enlist Applicator Training for weed control is through Corteva. The classroom will be on site at the UMES Ag Showcase with one session in the morning and one in the afternoon for a total of four available credits.

Pre-registration for general admission and the MDA training courses is required by Aug. 2 by visiting www.umes.edu/extension/events. The event is free and includes lunch sponsored by Mountaire Prime Quality Grain.
