The School of Agricultural and Natural Sciences’ Center for Student Excellence will host UMES Student-led Undergraduate Research Symposium on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025.

The symposium themed, “Feeding the Future: Innovation and Resiliency in Agriculture,” will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Engineering & Aviation Sciences Complex on the campus of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Check-in begins at 8 a.m.

This event is organized by the school’s undergraduate students and is part of the 135th anniversary celebration of the Second Morrill Act of 1890. 

Call for abstracts

Poster and oral presentation abstracts are now invited from UMES undergraduates.

Those selected by the committee will showcase their work at the Dec. 4 symposium. Abstracts of no more than 300 words (excluding title, authors, and affiliation) must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 31, at 11:59 p.m. via the registration link: https://forms.office.com/r/vZdHmDPC6s.

Abstracts submitted in the incorrect format or received after the Oct. 31 deadline will not be considered. To avoid redundancy, only one abstract submission per research team is permitted. Please underline the name(s) of the presenting member(s) within the abstract.

Pre-register to attend this event by Nov. 14, 2025, at https://forms.office.com/r/3FPkdHvHYh. All UMES students, faculty and staff are welcome. The event will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., with registration opening at 8 a.m. Presenting team members should each register to attend separately. Walk-ups will be accepted; however, pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
