Biography
Dr. Nastvogel received a doctorate in Sports Management from Northcentral University, a master’s degree in Education, Health Promotion, from Virginia Tech, and a bachelor’s in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise from Virginia Tech. Her research interests are in lifestyle, exercise, and performance programming. For youth, this includes sport and fitness education and encouraging participation. For adults, this involves implementing evidence-based programs in rural communities and minority populations, with a goal to improve lifestyle-related risk factors and quality of life. Dr. Nastvogel is also interested in improving individuals’ quality of movement through education, screenings, and corrective strategies. Dr. Nastvogel is a former Division I strength and conditioning coach. She volunteers with community recreation sport programs. She also holds several certifications in movement and program design for youth, athletes, and adults, and is currently seeking a specialist certification in training special populations.
