Congratulations!
As a degree candidate, here’s what you need to know—and do—to assure an enjoyable, glitch-free commencement day.
- Complete this form: DIPLOMA INFORMATION FORM. Diplomas are mailed 14 weeks after the commencement ceremony.
- Senior Pictures (Cap & Gown) Photos – Queens Gallery in the Student Services Center – March 31 from 2pm -6pm & April 1 from 10am – 2pm.
- Purchase academic attire – Order Regalia

- The Promotion codes are good from January 1, 2026, to April 1, 2026
- Consider attending the Graduation Fair in the University Bookstore on April 8 & 9 from 10:00am to 2pm.
- Deadline April 10 -Tell us how to pronounce your name during UMES Commencement Ceremony CLICK HERE
- Apply to become the Student Commentator during Commencement: deadline November 15 (Winter Ceremony) and April 1 for (Spring Ceremony)
- Deadline April 10-Make arrangements for everyone—yourself and/or your guests—who will need special assistance during the ceremony by emailing ADA@umes.edu and by filling out the form: https://umes-accommodate.symplicity.com/public_accommodation/
Other things to consider:
- All checklist items requiring your attention are in the graduation section under My Academics on your HAWKWeb Student Center. Any other questions or concerns can also be directed via email to: graduation@umes.edu.
- Meet with your advisor to ensure you have met your degree requirements for participating in commencement
- Apply for graduation
- Provide your guests with commencement ceremony date
- Tickets can be picked up in the Student Development Center (Office of the Registrar) starting May 11-14, 2026 (12 pm to 4 pm daily, Monday – Thursday until Rehearsal Day). Each graduation candidate will be eligible for 5 guest tickets. On Commencement day tickets can be picked up in the Student Services Center Ballroom.

- Avoid overcrowding in the arena, arrange to meet your guests on the outside of the Athletic Center
Commencement Decorum Statement
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is committed to honoring the accomplishments of all graduates in a respectful and dignified manner. To ensure the integrity of the ceremony and the comfort of all participants and guests, we ask that graduates and attendees maintain appropriate decorum throughout the event.
Disruptive behavior, inappropriate attire, or actions that interfere with the ceremony or detract from the experience or safety of others will not be tolerated. The university reserves the right to remove any individual from the commencement line or ceremony whose conduct does not align with these expectations.
Your cooperation is appreciated in making this a memorable and respectful celebration for everyone.
