Within the Visual Arts we offer degrees in Art Education and Applied Design. The Art Education degree is accredited by CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) and graduates are certified to teach in Elementary and Secondary schools The Applied Design major is intended to prepare graduates to earn a living in the real world.  Students have the opportunity to earn a BA degree in one of three concentrations:

  • Commercial Photography prepares students the contemporary job market.  Students are grounded in the foundations of traditional analog photography and sore to new heights in the digital realm. Graduates have gone on to work as fashion photographers, photo journalists, and found their own photography studios.
  • Graphic Illustration is both powerful and flexible, maximizing graduates’ employment opportunities. Graduates learn keen observational skills, and combine traditional media (such as drawing and painting) with the latest technologies in our computer labs.  The major encompasses both Graphic Design and Illustration to create versatile artists.  Graduates have gone on to work as graphic designers, illustrators, create their own companies, as well as going on to graduate schools.
  • Sequential Arts is all about comics, Anime, Manga and cartoons.  If you love telling stories with images this is the concentration for you. If you love the Avengers, One Piece, or Star Wars, this is the place for you. Graduates have gone on to work in the comic book industry, publish their own books.

All Art Majors have the opportunity to be housed in the Art Loft LLC.
