Student Life

University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) is located on 620 acres of land in the town of Princess Anne on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The town dates back to 1733 and has many buildings and landmarks of historic interest. The quiet community environment is excellent for learning, yet it is only 3 hours by car from the abundant cultural and recreational facilities of Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Virginia Beach. The state’s famous seaside resort, Ocean City, is only 1 hour from the campus. The campus is located 13 miles south of the town of Salisbury, which provides shopping and recreational facilities.

Housing

UMES offers a wide variety of housing options on and near campus for graduate students. A popular choice is “Talon’s Square” on campus. The apartments offer 2-bedroom, kitchen, and a common area setting as low as $645 per month including all utilities. Recreation

The Recreation Center consists of the “Strike Zone,” a 6 lane bowling alley that also serves as the practice facility for the Lady Hawks Bowling Team who has claimed three NCAA championships and four national titles in women’s college bowling. The Recreation Center also includes a video game room with an Xbox 360 and a Wii with an assortment of games that students may choose from. We also have a Table Tennis area, a lounge area with card tables where students can play board games, and an air hockey table. “Shooter’s Choice” is our billiards area that includes 7 wooden tables.
