UMES Extension’s Small Farm Program and The Bay Mushrooms hosts a workshop for farmers interested in growing mushrooms at the farm in Federalsburg, Maryland.
Attendees will participate in a day of hands-on instruction with mushroom farm operator and plant pathologist, Jose Prieto, to gain knowledge and on-site understanding of how to grow a few popular mushroom varieties to sell within their current farm business.
With hands-on time and information this workshop will offer, action-oriented farmers who are serious about adding mushrooms to their existing farm business will walk away with an immediate business income opportunity.
Participants receive three ready-to-grow mushroom kits, three 5-pound bags of mushroom grain spawn, and a copy of “Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms” by Paul Stamets.
Registration is $500 per person and limited to 10 people. Lunch will be served.
Pre-registration is required. No refunds will be issued after Feb. 25.
