Aronia Berry Picking Contest

UPDATE: This event is now free.

UMES Extension will host the second annual Aronia Berry Picking Contest. Teams will compete for prizes and goodies made from Aronia at the Aug. 23 contest.

Come with a team of four member or we’ll help create a full team of four based on registration. The team with the most berries picked within the allotted time wins. First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded.

Individual registration for the competition is FREE, with advanced registration required. If you have preselected team members (up to 4 members total), be sure to include that information at checkout. No more than eight teams total (first-come, first serve) will compete. All individuals must be registered to participate.

Just watching? Observers can register for FREE.

All registrations include admission to the site, materials, light refreshments and free samples. Participants will learn about the nutritional value of the plant, sample Aronia berry ice cream and take home some picked berries along with recipes.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 23, 2023, at the UMES Research, Extension and Teaching Farm at 10789 Stewart Neck Road in Princess Anne.

Event partners are ATBFA, Dreaming Out Loud and the University of Maryland Extension.
