UMES Extension will hold a hands-on farm workshop March 23 at Vintage Family Farms in Hurlock, Maryland.
The workshop will capture the cycle of tulip farming: from ordering recommended varieties, to properly planting bulbs, forcing for early season use to harvesting.
Participants will take a behind the scenes tour of a five-acre 100,000-tulip bulb field as they pick a small u-pick tulip arrangement of eight bulbs and discuss sales, marketing and cut flower sales avenues.
The workshop is limited to 30 participants, and pre-registration is required.
The cost is $40 per attendee and refreshments will be available, but please bring lunch.
