Room Selection Process
Returning students may apply for on-campus housing through the room selection process.
Room Selection occurs each spring semester and allows current residents/students the opportunity to return to University Housing for the following school year.
To be eligible for Room Selection, you must be a currently enrolled student for the upcoming spring semester. Students with an active upcoming spring housing assignment will get priority in the actual selection process. Space is limited, so please read carefully and do not hesitate to make your reservation!
- A new application must be completed each year
- A $300 room deposit is required to reserve your on-campus space
- Students must be financially cleared through Student Accounts
- Students must be registered for at least 12 credit hours for the upcoming semester (summer courses do not apply)
- Review our Housing Contract before applying
2025 Room Selection Timeline
- March 24-28: Academic Advising
- March 31: Fall 2025 Registration Begins
- March 31-April 4: Room Reclaim Begins (This period is for upperclassmen residing in upperclassmen residential halls who wish to remain in the same room for the upcoming Fall semester).
- April 8 -May 16: Hawks’ Select Period (This period is for returning students who want a new room. Residents are able to self-select the room of their choice.
- May 17: Administrative Room Assignment Period begins (This period requires a $100 administrative fee in addition to the $300 room deposit. Residents will be assigned according to classification and space availability.
- June 9: Housing will be dropped for students with past due accounts
Room Selection Application Step-by-Step
- Navigate to the UMES webpage
- Select MyUMES
- Select the Hawkville icon
- Complete the housing application
- Pay the $300 housing deposit
- The room selection process will appear on the main menu once your application is complete
