Below are two guides that provide citation examples from the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA). RefWorks, an online citation tool, is also available that imports citations from databases and websites and automatically creates bibliographies.

Academic Search Ultimate (EBSCO) – This database includes full-text coverage (1965 to present) for peer-reviewed journals, magazines, newspapers and books for most academic disciplines. E-journal titles include:

AccessMedicine (McGraw Hill) – This is a collection of over 160 medical textbooks and reference books that provide authoritative and current medical data. Textbooks are updated continuously with new medical information, and the collection is regularly updated with the most recent edition of each textbook. It also includes medical news, quick reference tools and diagnostic tests, infographics, drug information (including dosages, trade names, and pricing), multimedia presentations and video, cases with practice questions, study tools, and patient education information. Content in this collection is created by professional physicians from around the world.   

AccessPharmacy (McGraw Hill) – This web database provides pharmacy textbooks published by McGraw Hill Medical and is a multimedia library of animations and videos illustrating drug interactions and fundamental pharmacy concepts and drug therapy cases.

Classification of Diseases, Functioning and Disability (CDC)

Journal of Humanistic Counseling – A quarterly peer-reviewed journal focusing on humanistic counseling practices and experiential developmental counseling processes.

Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy – is a peer-reviewed medical journal covering research about musculoskeletal rehabilitation, orthopedics, physical therapy, and sports medicine.

LWW Health Library (Wolters Kluwer) – This pharmacy collection provides access to key pharmaceutical sciences and clinical content, as well rich multimedia ancillaries for teaching and learning in pharmacy-related subjects. Search for content by topic, subject, disease/disorder or title. Associated resources in the collection include images, videos, review questions, PowerPoint presentations and animations.

New England Journal of Medicine

Nursing Reference Center (EBSCO) – Nursing Reference Center is a point-of-care evidence-based resource that delivers the best available and most recent clinical evidence and knowledge on conditions and diseases. Resources include skills and procedures, drug information, patient education, practice resources and continuing education.

PubMed  – PubMed is the National Library of Medicine’s Medline database providing abstracts and indexing for biomedical journals published in the U.S. and in foreign countries. It also covers chemistry journals. Topics include medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, psychiatry, pre-clinical sciences, medical education, public health and more. SAGE Premier Journals – This web database provides full-text access to more than 650 peer-reviewed journals, including high-impact research and international titles on behalf of over 500 scholarly and professional societies. E-journal titles include Clinical Case Studies, among others.

Trip Medical Database –This clinical search engine allows health professionals to identify high-quality clinical evidence for practice and care. Evidence is gathered by Trip from a network of users. NOTE: Users must register to use this free resource. Coverage: 1997 – current

UpToDate (Wolters Kluwer) – This suite offers clinical, drug, patient and member content to support health professionals.
