Chemistry – Master of Science

Chemistry – Master of Science

The M.S. program in Chemistry provides a challenging, interdisciplinary research experience that prepares students for careers in research in industry or state and federal agencies, or for entrance into doctoral degree programs and professional schools.

Students from a wide variety of science backgrounds are accepted into the Chemistry M.S. program. Biology and environmental science majors who have taken general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry can augment their training with the Chemistry M.S. curriculum.

Through the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data for the master’s thesis, the student develops the ability to think independently and critically. Through classroom and laboratory settings, students will acquire the skills to succeed in academic and professional environments. We further teach students to assume leadership roles in professional activities and organizations that advance the chemical sciences.
