PRINCESS ANNE, MD- Entries are being sought for an art competition open to high school students taking art classes in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties.  The exhibition takes place May 14-June 12 at the Mosely Gallery located in the Arts and Technology building on the University of Maryland Eastern Shore campus.

“After such a successful inaugural event last year, it was decided to host the show again this year at the Mosely Gallery,” said Dr. Anke Van Wagenberg, gallery director.  “We look forward to an even larger response from area high school art students at this year’s show.”

Awards will be given in the categories of photography, sequential (better known as comic book) art, 2-D and 3-D art.  Artwork must be matted or framed and ready to hang with wire on back.  Information including name, grade and high school must be clearly visible on the front of the piece submitted.  Submissions must be delivered to the Mosely Gallery on May 11-12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Judges retain the right to refuse artwork for any reason.

A reception in the gallery and open house in the UMES art studios will be held on May 14, from 4 to 6 p.m., for all participating students, their family, friends, supporters and the general public.  The exhibit will be on display Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through June 12.  All events in the Mosely Gallery are free and open to the public.
