PRINCESS ANNE, MD – Bill Robinson has joined the staff of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore as director of public relations.
Robinson is a product of Wicomico County public schools and a 1978 graduate of the University of Maryland College Park.
He worked three decades as a reporter for The (Cambridge) Banner, The (Salisbury) Daily Times and most recently South Carolina’s capital city newspaper, where he concentrated on education.
In the 1990s, Robinson reported on the debate over integration of women into South Carolina’s public military college. During the past decade, his focus was on school accountability, including coverage of a decade-old lawsuit between poor school districts and state government.
Robinson returned to Delmarva in 2008 to work for the McCready Foundation, which operates a community hospital and nursing home in Crisfield. In addition to promoting McCready’s health-care services and serving as community liaison, he also managed the foundation’s website.
He was a member of the Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s board and currently serves as vice chairman of the lower Eastern Shore’s board for the Blood of Bank of Delmarva and the (Salisbury) City Park Committee.
Robinson lives in Salisbury with his wife, Jane Langrall Robinson, an English-language arts teacher at Delmar Middle School.
