“Rock the Vote ‘Campus Take Over'” at UMES

PRINCESS ANNE, MD The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Office of Student Activities joins UrbtekLive in presenting “Rock the Vote ‘Campus Take Over'” on Monday, October 13, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the courtyard of the Student Services Center.

“Nothing of this magnitude has ever been done on the Eastern Shore,” said Marcellus Connor, campus representative.  “We look forward to a momentous event.”

The all-day fest of musical entertainment, political representatives and sponsored activities will take place to encourage registration and participation in the upcoming presidential election.

“Rock the Vote ‘Campus Take Over'” is an event aimed at promoting political awareness among UMES students and the surrounding community.

Personal appearances by representatives of both political parties give students and community members the opportunity to voice concerns and ask questions of public figures who are looking to the youth to help elect their candidate of choice.  The official “Rock the Vote” organization will also be in attendance encouraging bipartisan discussion.

Because of the support of national sponsors like Axe, Glaceau, GIANT Magazine, Imeem, REMIX Magazine and Toyota Scion, Rock the Vote will be a political energizer at UMES, inspiring students to register to vote in 2008.

This event is open and free to the public.  In the event of rain, the “Campus Take Over” will move into the Student Services Center.  For more information, call campus organizer Marcellus Connor at 410-651-6272 or the Office of Student Activities at 410-651-6434.
