Dr. Peggy Naleppa

PRINCESS ANNE, MD-June 10, 2010-Dr. Margaret (Peggy) Naleppa, president and CEO of Peninsula Regional Medical Center and Peninsula Regional Health System in Salisbury, Md., was recently named to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Board of Visitors by Dr. Thelma B. Thompson, president, UMES.

“Dr. Naleppa’s 30 years of experience as a health care executive make her a valuable new asset to the Board of Visitors,” said Thompson.  “We welcome her input, particularly as it relates to the university’s programs within the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions.”

Naleppa, a registered nurse, began her health care career as director of Neurosurgical Services at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C.  She has held positions as clinical leader or senior executive at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Calvert Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital.

Professional activities that augment her career include serving as president of the Maryland Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and holding several leadership positions with the Maryland Hospital Association.

Naleppa is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from St. Joseph’s College, a master’s degree in administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Maryland University College, a master’s in business administration with a concentration in medical services from The Johns Hopkins University and a doctorate in management from the University of Maryland University College.

Naleppa lives in Salisbury with her husband, Dan, and are the parents of two daughters, Adrienne and Renee.

PRMC is a valued partner with UMES, providing funds for the Physician Assistant and Physical Therapy programs.  To date, it has contributed $310,000 to the Campaign for Academic Excellence.

The UMES Board of Visitors is an advisory body providing assistance to the president in the areas of community relations, institutional development, governmental issues and alumni affairs.  It has no legal or fiduciary responsibility for the operation of the university.
