PRINCESS ANNE, MD – A self-confessed “jazz junkie,” Bilal will join the UMES Jazz Ensemble for its Spring Concert Wednesday, March 7. Performers will take to the stage in the Ella Fitzgerald Center for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m.

Bilal, whose full name is Bilal Oliver, has performed with such well-known neo-soul artists as ErykahBadu, Jill Scott and John Legend. A lifelong musician, Bilal attended the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts as a vocal major. His formal training began at the Mannes Music Conservatory in New York, where he studied jazz, big band singing and opera. He became proficient singing in seven languages.

Dr. John R. Lamkin II will direct the performance, which is presented by the Department of Fine Arts.
