PRINCESS ANNE, MD – April 6, 2010-Students, who are currently enrolled in studio art courses at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, will have their work on display in the Mosely Gallery during the university’s annual Fine Art Student Show this month.

The exhibit, which runs from Thursday, April 15, through Friday, April 30, will feature a variety of work, such as photography, drawing, painting, sequential arts (comic book design) and ceramics. An opening reception for the Fine Art Student Show will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 15.

“The annual student show presents not only an opportunity for students to display their work, but also to learn about the exhibition process,” said Dr. Anke Van Wagenberg, director of the Mosely Gallery.  “Undergraduates learn about deadlines, framing, installation conditions, limitations and possibilities, presentations of artwork, speaking with the media and presentation to the general public.”

Student Marcus Fletcher even designed the postcard, which depicts his view of “Twisted Elegance,” for this year’s event.

“We’re ecstatic about the new artists that will be showing in the Mosely Gallery,” said Stephanie Whitley, a junior in the Department of Fine Arts.

Events at the Mosely Gallery are free and open to the public.  The gallery is located in the Arts and Technology building on the UMES campus.  Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Programs at the Mosely Gallery at UMES are made possible with the generous support of the Maryland State Arts Council and the Somerset County Arts Council.
