PRINCESS ANNE, MD-(March 27, 2012)If you missed the fall dinner series, the gala, or didn’t get a ticket for the popular spring luncheons, there is one more chance to sample the culinary skills of students at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore-this time with a show to boot.
Drama Society and Hotel and Restaurant Management students showcase their combined talents April 19-21 as they present “Do You Remember?: A Musical Revue.” Dinner seating begins at 6 p.m. with curtain time at 8 p.m. in the Richard A. Henson Center. Tickets are now on sale.
Students in the HRM program will prepare and present an expansive, course gourmet buffet for 200 people nightly, Dr. Ernest Boger, chair of the program, said.
“The UMES Hotel and Restaurant Management program has been graduating students for entry-level management for over 30 years,” he said. “The purpose of exercises such as the dinner theater, is to be sure students are familiar with the art, science and business of food service.”
Members of the university’s drama society will present scenes inspired by the best of past dinner theater performances from the last decade.
Selections come from “Purlie,” “The Mikado” and “The Wiz,” as well as “Motown N Mo,” “Blues and BBQ,” “Motown N Much Mo” and other shows, said Dr. Della Dameron-Johnson, director of the UMES Drama Society. “We are fortunate to have some veterans return to play their original parts and we have new performers who are equally as talented.”
Tickets must be purchased in advance. Prices are $35 for Thurs., April 19; $45 for Fri., April 20; and $50 for Sat., April 21. Call 410-651-6230 to purchase or for more information.
