PRINCESS ANNE, MD – Need help paying for college? Lost in a flurry of financial aid forms? Don t fret: help is on the way from Maryland Public Television (MPT) with the highly anticipated and updated annual program You Can Afford College, airing Saturday, January 9, at 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on MPTHD.
You Can Afford College is a coproduction of MPT and the Maryland Higher Education Commission. Funding provided by USA Funds. Additional support provided by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Coppin State University and the Eastern Shore Higher Education Center.
Just in time for application deadlines, viewers will benefit from timely, straightforward advice and information about public and private grants, scholarships and loan applications, financial aid forms and work-study programs. The 30-minute broadcast also connects you to trusted Web sites and helpful resources. Maryland residents looking for one-on-one guidance are encouraged to call a toll-free number airing throughout the broadcast to speak to local financial aid counselors for personalized advice.
Hosted by Mario Armstrong who can be heard on WYPR and WEAA, and who regularly appears on CNN, WBAL-TV and shot on location at campuses and colleges across the state, You Can Afford College tells the real-life stories of students who have found effective and practical ways to pay for school. Tune in and take advantage of tangible tips and tools to help you or your children reach those dreams of higher education.
A production of Maryland Public Television for more than 25 years, You Can Afford College delivers information tailored to today s parents and students who need a comprehensive, how-to approach to find financial aid. Additional airdates have been added to ensure that Maryland families across the region have the opportunity to utilize the many resources available to help students of all ages afford a college education. The program re-airs Tuesday, January 12, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, February 6, at 4:30 p.m. on MPTHD and Sunday, February 7, at 7 p.m. on MPT2.
